ACCRA — Legal fireworks have erupted after a prominent lawyer slammed the Deputy Attorney-General for expressing confidence in the possible conviction of Adu Boahene, describing the remarks as “misguided,” premature, and potentially dangerous to the integrity of the judicial process.

The explosive criticism comes as public attention intensifies around the high-profile case, which has already triggered heated political debate, media scrutiny, and growing tension within legal circles.

Speaking forcefully on the matter, the lawyer warned that no state official — especially one occupying such a sensitive office — should appear to prejudge the outcome of an ongoing case before the courts have delivered a verdict.

“You cannot speak as though a conviction is already guaranteed,” the lawyer argued. “That kind of confidence sends the wrong signal to the public and raises serious concerns about fairness and due process.”

The comments have sparked fresh controversy, with critics accusing the Deputy AG of fueling perceptions that the case may already be politically tilted before all evidence has even been fully tested in court.

Supporters of Adu Boahene say the remarks reinforce fears that powerful figures are attempting to influence public opinion and create an atmosphere of presumed guilt.

But government allies insist the Deputy AG merely expressed confidence in the strength of the prosecution’s evidence and did nothing improper.

Still, the backlash has refused to die down.

Legal analysts caution that statements from senior government lawyers carry enormous weight and can easily be interpreted as attempts to pressure the judiciary or shape national perception surrounding sensitive trials.

The case itself has become one of the most closely watched legal battles in the country, attracting intense public interest and political commentary from all sides.

As tensions rise, many Ghanaians are now watching closely to see whether the growing war of words outside the courtroom could overshadow the actual legal proceedings inside it.

For now, one thing is clear: the battle over Adu Boahene is no longer being fought only in court — it is rapidly becoming a fierce public and political showdown.
