Tribute to Daddy Lumba
One of the evening’s most emotional moments came when Sarkodie honoured the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba.
The rapper dedicated part of his performance to the celebrated musician and played some of his songs, recognising his contribution to Ghanaian music and his influence on generations of artistes and fans.
Sarkodie also paid homage to gospel musician Bernice Offei, adding another dimension to the evening’s celebration of Ghanaian musical heritage.
Asante culture meets hip-hop
Sarkodie’s entrance was another major highlight, blending elements of Asante tradition with contemporary hip-hop.
A projection of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II featured as traditional music played, creating a cultural backdrop before the rapper began his performance.
The presentation reflected the concert’s broader celebration of Ghanaian identity, while connecting the event to its Kumasi setting.
An emotional close in Kumasi
The show continued into the early hours of Sunday, October 25, ending at approximately 6:30 a.m.
As the concert came to a close, Sarkodie knelt on stage to thank Kumasi and his fans for their support and the strong turnout.
Rapperholic 2026 brought together different generations of music lovers, celebrated Ghanaian artistes and paid tribute to influential figures in the country’s music history.
The event also marked another milestone for Sarkodie’s annual concert, which has grown into a major fixture on Ghana’s entertainment calendar since its launch in 2012.
