According to the academic, libraries must move beyond their traditional role as repositories of books and embrace innovations such as artificial intelligence, digital archives, virtual learning platforms, smart cataloguing systems, and high-speed internet to better serve students, researchers, and the wider public.

Prof. Danquah argued that integrating cutting-edge technologies into libraries will enhance access to information, improve research capabilities, and prepare learners with the digital skills needed to compete in the global knowledge economy.

Education experts say investing in technologically advanced libraries will not only improve educational outcomes but also foster creativity, entrepreneurship, and inclusive access to information for people of all ages.

As discussions on educational reform continue, Prof. Danquah’s appeal has renewed attention on the need to future-proof Ghana’s libraries, positioning them as dynamic centres of innovation capable of driving national development.
