Veteran music producer Appietus has issued a clarion call for government intervention, insisting that the Ghanaian music industry needs urgent structural reform. Speaking in a recent interview, he warned that without proper oversight, the industry risks stagnation and the exploitation of both artists and producers.

Appietus, known for shaping the careers of numerous top Ghanaian musicians, stressed that regulation, standardized contracts, and financial accountability are essential to safeguard talent and ensure fair compensation. “We need systems in place; otherwise, our artists suffer, and the industry loses credibility,” he said.

The producer also highlighted rampant issues such as unpaid royalties, inconsistent promotion practices, and lack of organized record labels. He urged policymakers to collaborate with industry stakeholders to develop frameworks that protect creators and stimulate growth.

Fans and fellow musicians have rallied behind his call, sparking a nationwide conversation about the future of Ghanaian music. Many argue that while talent abounds, the lack of structure has long held back global competitiveness and financial stability for artists.

For Appietus, the message is unambiguous: it’s time for the government to play a proactive role or risk letting Ghana’s vibrant music scene fall behind.
