In a strong statement underscoring international cooperation, Ghana’s Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joseph Pelpuo, emphasized that the country’s partnership with Japan is firmly anchored on the principles of peace, equity, and multilateralism.

Addressing stakeholders during a recent diplomatic engagement, Pelpuo described the relationship as a model of collaboration that transcends borders. “Our partnership with Japan is built not just on trade or technology,” he said, “but on shared values that promote stability, fairness, and collective action in tackling global challenges.”

He highlighted how both nations have leveraged multilateral platforms to advance common interests, including economic development, education, and sustainable initiatives. According to Pelpuo, the Ghana-Japan alliance has consistently prioritized initiatives that foster inclusive growth and regional stability, reinforcing the idea that diplomacy rooted in mutual respect and fairness produces lasting results.

The Deputy Speaker further called on governments, private sector actors, and civil society to continue nurturing this partnership, framing it as a blueprint for how countries with shared values can collaborate to confront global crises, from climate change to peacebuilding.

Analysts say the statement reflects Ghana’s commitment to strategic international alliances while promoting core principles that guide the nation’s foreign policy. The Ghana-Japan partnership, they note, continues to strengthen cultural, economic, and technological ties while championing principles of equity and multilateral cooperation on the world stage.
