Well-known Ghanaian musician Fameye has told how he spent over 3,000 cedis in one night after splitting up with his girlfriend.
He claimed that the tragic incident occurred on a day that was meant to be joyful and commemorate their romantic relationship.
Fameye described the agonizing experience in an interview with Accra 100.5 FM. He stated that he was expecting to enjoy the fruits of his labor when he received the news, having been paid for a show in Winneba.
However, he claimed that the shock of learning about the devastating news of the breakup caused him to shave off his hair that evening. And if all of that was not enough, he went on a spending binge, blowing through the entire amount he earned from the gig in Winneba in one evening.
“It was a painful experience. She broke up with me when I went to see her in Winneba after I had just returned from a show, which was before I even became famous. I was paid 3,000 cedis for the visit. I even gave her 50 Cedis out of the 3,000.
He said, “I just went to my room to sleep after cutting off my rasta.”
He said that even though he had to go see a female friend for comfort, he was still in agony, so he decided to go to a bar with some friends and spend all of his money on drinks.
Fameye counseled his disciples to exercise caution and guard their hearts in romantic relationships.
“Afterwards, I went to see Winnifred, an old classmate, and I broke down and confided in her. She slowly consoled me and raised my spirits.
Still not feeling well, I went to a pub with some friends and spent all of my money on drinks and kebab in an attempt to show that I was not hurt. By the time I got home, the entire three thousand cedis was gone,” he said.
“I have found that it is extremely dangerous to love a woman with all of your heart. Broken hearts are not easy to heal. So be careful in relationships,” he said.
