Accra, Ghana – Ghana’s music industry is celebrating another major international milestone after some of its biggest stars, including Black Sherif, Sarkodie, Moliy and several other entertainers, secured nominations for the 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA).
Leading Ghana’s contingent is Black Sherif, who earned multiple nominations, including Best Male West Africa, Best Male Rap Act, Artist of the Year, Song of the Year for So It Goes, and Album of the Year for IRONBOY, cementing his status as one of Africa’s fastest-rising music stars.
Veteran rapper Sarkodie also received nominations, reaffirming his enduring influence on the African music scene, while Moliy continued her impressive international rise with nominations in the Best Female West Africa and Best Female Reggae/Dancehall categories. Other Ghanaian nominees include Shatta Wale, Eno Barony, Freda Rhymz and Hadzi Vodushi.
The nominations underscore Ghana’s growing influence on the continental music landscape, with artistes receiving recognition across multiple genres, including hip-hop, Afrobeats, reggae, dancehall and rap.
The 2026 AFRIMMA Awards are scheduled to take place on September 12 in Dallas, Texas, where Africa’s biggest music stars will compete for top honours in one of the continent’s most prestigious international music award ceremonies.
