Accra’s premier referral facility, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, has strongly defended the credibility of its Central Laboratory results following growing public concerns and murmurs questioning the reliability of some test outcomes.
In a firm response aimed at calming speculation, hospital authorities insisted that the Central Laboratory remains fully compliant with international standards and operates under strict quality control systems designed to ensure accuracy, consistency, and scientific integrity.
The clarification comes amid increasing scrutiny from sections of the public and some stakeholders who have raised doubts about certain laboratory findings circulating in medical and institutional circles. However, Korle Bu officials have pushed back against any suggestion of compromised standards.
According to the hospital’s position, the Central Laboratory undergoes routine internal and external quality assessments, including participation in proficiency testing programs that benchmark its performance against global best practices.
“We want to assure the public that our results are not only credible but are generated through validated scientific procedures,” the hospital emphasized, stressing that patient care decisions and national health services rely heavily on the laboratory’s outputs.
The statement also highlighted the expertise of laboratory scientists working within the facility, noting that they are highly trained professionals who adhere to strict protocols in sample handling, testing, and reporting.
The hospital further cautioned against misinformation that could undermine trust in critical healthcare systems, warning that such narratives risk causing unnecessary panic and eroding confidence in medical diagnostics.
As the conversation continues, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital maintains that its Central Laboratory remains a cornerstone of Ghana’s healthcare system, playing a vital role in diagnosis, treatment planning, and public health monitoring.
For now, the institution is standing its ground: the science, it insists, is sound—and the results speak for themselves.
