A wave of disbelief has hit Hohoe after three recent Senior High School (SHS) leavers were arrested for allegedly vandalising the water pipeline system of the Hohoe E.P. Senior High School.
The suspects are said to have been picked up by security personnel following reports of deliberate damage to the school’s water infrastructure, an act that reportedly disrupted water supply on campus and raised concerns among staff and students.
According to preliminary accounts, the incident involved the destruction of key sections of the pipeline, leaving parts of the school without access to running water. The motive behind the alleged act remains unclear, though authorities are treating the case as a serious offence.
School officials quickly alerted security agencies after discovering the damage, prompting a swift response that led to the arrest of the three former students. They are currently assisting police with investigations as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The alleged vandalism has sparked outrage within the school community, with administrators describing the act as not only destructive but also a setback to efforts aimed at maintaining essential services for students.
Education stakeholders have also condemned the incident, warning that acts of vandalism against school property undermine learning environments and place additional financial burdens on institutions already managing limited resources.
Meanwhile, security agencies have assured the public that a full investigation is underway, and anyone found culpable will face the full rigours of the law.
As the case unfolds, attention remains focused on how such incidents can be prevented in the future, particularly in educational institutions where infrastructure is vital to student welfare and academic activities.
