Residents and businesses across several communities are bracing for power interruptions today as the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) embarks on a planned maintenance exercise aimed at improving service delivery and strengthening the power distribution network.

The scheduled maintenance, set for Thursday, June 18, 2026, is expected to affect multiple areas, leaving homes, offices, schools, and commercial centers temporarily without electricity for several hours.

ECG says the exercise forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance the reliability and efficiency of electricity supply across the country. However, for many residents and business owners, the announcement means adjusting daily schedules and preparing for disruptions to normal activities.

The power distributor has urged customers in all affected locations to take the necessary precautions, including unplugging sensitive electrical appliances to prevent damage when power is restored.

Businesses that depend heavily on electricity, particularly cold stores, salons, internet cafés, and small-scale manufacturers, may face operational challenges during the outage period.

ECG has apologized for the inconvenience and appealed for public cooperation as engineers work to complete the maintenance exercise within the scheduled timeframe.

Affected customers are advised to check ECG’s official communication channels for the full list of communities and the exact duration of the outage in their respective areas.

As the maintenance exercise gets underway, thousands of residents will be hoping for a swift restoration of power and improved electricity service in the days ahead.
