Accra, Ghana – Deputy Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, Alexander Afenyo-Markin? has sparked renewed calls for accountability after Ghanaian politician Ntim Fordjour demanded that any government officials implicated in the alleged $300 million drug bust should be publicly identified and prosecuted.
Fordjour, in a strong call for transparency, insisted that no public official should be shielded if investigations establish links to the controversial case.
According to him, the credibility of state institutions depends on the willingness of authorities to pursue justice without fear or favour, regardless of the status or political connections of individuals involved.
“Name and prosecute government officials implicated,” Fordjour said, emphasizing that accountability must extend beyond ordinary citizens to include those holding public office.
The alleged drug-related case has attracted national attention, raising questions about security, law enforcement, and possible attempts by influential individuals to interfere with investigations.
The lawmaker’s comments have intensified public debate, with many Ghanaians demanding a full investigation and clear answers from the relevant authorities.
While investigations into the matter continue, calls are growing for transparency, accountability, and decisive action against anyone found culpable.
The development has once again placed the spotlight on Ghana’s fight against illicit drug trafficking and the responsibility of state institutions to protect national security.
