Accra — President John Dramani Mahama has directed the immediate release of GH¢300 million to support flood relief operations and strengthen measures aimed at reducing the impact of flooding across affected communities.
The emergency funding is expected to provide critical support for residents impacted by the floods while helping authorities implement urgent interventions to manage the situation.
The directive by President John Dramani Mahama comes as parts of the country continue to face the effects of heavy rains, including flooding, displacement, property damage, and disruption to daily activities.

The funds are expected to support relief distribution, emergency response activities, and flood mitigation measures designed to address immediate challenges and improve preparedness for future incidents.
Government officials have emphasized the need for a coordinated response involving emergency agencies, local authorities, and community stakeholders to ensure assistance reaches those most affected.
The announcement comes amid growing public concerns over recurring flooding, particularly in urban areas where drainage challenges and rapid development continue to increase vulnerability.
As relief efforts intensify, attention will now focus on the effective use of the GH¢300 million allocation and the implementation of long-term strategies to reduce the impact of future floods.
