Kasoa, Ghana – The Environmental Protection Authority has ordered the closure of a fuel station in Kasoa over alleged sanitation lapses and concerns that its operations could worsen flooding in the area.
The enforcement action followed an inspection by the Authority, which reportedly identified issues relating to poor environmental management and conditions that posed potential risks to public safety and the surrounding community.
According to the EPA, the closure forms part of its mandate to ensure that businesses comply with environmental standards and operate in ways that do not endanger public health or contribute to environmental degradation.
Officials indicated that the fuel station will remain closed until the identified deficiencies are addressed and the facility satisfies all regulatory requirements.

The action comes amid heightened concerns over flooding in parts of Kasoa and other communities following recent heavy rains, with authorities intensifying efforts to enforce environmental and planning regulations.
The EPA has also urged operators of fuel stations and other commercial facilities to strictly adhere to environmental and sanitation standards, warning that non-compliance could attract similar enforcement measures.
Residents have welcomed the move, expressing hope that stricter regulatory action will help improve sanitation, reduce environmental risks, and mitigate flooding in vulnerable communities.
