Nigerian life coach and social commentator Solomon Buchi has stirred fresh controversy after launching a scathing attack on comedian and content creator Carter Efe over a viral skit inspired by Nigeria’s First Lady, Remi Tinubu.
The backlash followed the circulation of a comedy skit in which Carter Efe referenced comments associated with the First Lady, prompting mixed reactions across social media. While some viewers found the content humorous, others criticized it as distasteful and insensitive.
Reacting to the skit, Solomon Buchi did not mince words, describing Carter Efe as an “established olodo,” a Nigerian slang term often used to refer to someone perceived as unintelligent or lacking good judgment.
Buchi argued that comedians and influencers should exercise greater responsibility when creating content around sensitive public issues, insisting that the pursuit of online engagement should not come at the expense of meaningful discourse or respect for national conversations.
His remarks quickly ignited debate online, with social media users taking sides. Some defended Buchi’s criticism, saying public figures should be held accountable for the messages they amplify, while others accused him of overreacting and argued that comedy should be viewed as entertainment rather than a serious political statement.
Supporters of Carter Efe maintained that satire has long been a tool for commenting on current affairs and that comedians should be free to express themselves creatively without facing personal attacks.
The exchange has further fueled discussions about the limits of comedy, freedom of expression, and the responsibilities of content creators in Nigeria’s fast-growing digital entertainment space.
Neither Carter Efe nor his management had publicly responded to Buchi’s remarks at the time of writing.
