Ghana’s Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has issued a strong warning to the world’s tech community, insisting that artificial intelligence must be firmly aligned with human progress—or risk becoming a disruptive force beyond control.
Speaking with urgency and conviction, Bagbin stressed that the rapid rise of AI technologies should not outpace the ethical frameworks needed to guide them. According to him, innovation without responsibility could widen inequality, threaten jobs, and weaken the human-centered foundations of development.
“AI must align with human progress,” he reportedly emphasized, underscoring the need for global cooperation to ensure technology serves humanity rather than undermines it.
The Speaker’s remarks come at a time when governments, educators, and industry leaders are grappling with how to regulate AI systems that are increasingly influencing everything from education and healthcare to governance and employment.
