Former Minister of State will launch his campaign tour on November 2, engaging party executives, delegates and grassroots members as he seeks to become the NDC’s next National Chairman.
Dr Akwasi Opong-Fosu, an aspiring National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is set to begin his nationwide campaign tour in the Volta Region on Monday, November 2, 2026.
The campaign team announced the planned tour in a press release dated October 29, 2026, explaining that the decision to start in the Volta Region recognises its historic loyalty, sacrifices and significant contributions to the party’s growth and electoral successes.
The team also described the region as strategically important to the NDC’s future.
The visit is expected to provide Dr Opong-Fosu with an opportunity to engage party stakeholders, listen to their concerns and communicate his vision of consolidating the gains of the governing party while protecting the achievements and legacy of President John Dramani Mahama.
According to the statement, the engagements will bring together regional and constituency executives, delegates, branch executives, party elders, cadres, former and serving Members of Parliament, government appointees and other key stakeholders.
The campaign team says the interactions are intended to build consensus around a stronger, more united and inclusive NDC ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Campaign anchored on the 3Vs
Dr Opong-Fosu’s campaign is being organised under the slogan “Consolidating the Gains!” and will be guided by three principles: Votes, Voice and Viability.
The team says the 3Vs agenda seeks to ensure that grassroots members are recognised, heard and economically empowered.
It further intends to use the engagements to gather concerns from party members and build support for a more inclusive party structure.
Campaign team highlights experience
The statement presents Dr Opong-Fosu as an experienced party member and public administrator with a strong understanding of the NDC’s foundations and grassroots structures.
He is a founding member of the party, a former Member of Parliament, former Minister of State and accomplished public administrator.
His campaign team argues that his institutional knowledge, experience and commitment to party unity make him suited to lead the NDC through its next phase of development.
The team says his leadership vision is focused on consolidating the party’s achievements, safeguarding its political future and positioning it to retain power in 2028 and beyond.
The statement was issued by Hon. Alhaji Inusah Fuseini, Convenor of the AOF4C Campaign Team.
