Cape Coast — The MOBA Golf Club has officially launched a special invitational tournament as part of celebrations marking the 150th anniversary of Mfantsipim School, blending sport, tradition, and alumni pride in a landmark commemorative event.
The launch, held ahead of the tournament, forms part of a wider programme honouring the legacy of one of Ghana’s most historic senior high schools, Mfantsipim School, known for its long-standing academic excellence and influential alumni network.
Organisers say the invitational is designed to bring together Old Boys, sports enthusiasts, and stakeholders in a celebration that reflects both sporting excellence and institutional heritage.
The event is being spearheaded by members of the MOBA (Mfantsipim Old Boys Association), who view the golf tournament as a symbolic extension of the school’s values of discipline, leadership, and excellence.
The anniversary celebrations have already attracted widespread attention, with various activities planned to highlight the school’s contribution to national development over the past 150 years.
The golf invitational is expected to serve as one of the key sporting highlights of the milestone year, fostering camaraderie among alumni while raising the profile of golf within the broader school community.
As anticipation builds, organisers say the tournament will not only be competitive but also deeply symbolic — celebrating a century-and-a-half of educational impact through sport and unity.
