Former Chief Executive Officer of the **Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu, has been taken into custody to begin serving her 10-year prison sentence following her extradition from the United States to Ghana.
The former MASLOC boss returned to Ghana after a lengthy extradition process and was placed under the supervision of state authorities as arrangements were made for her incarceration. She had earlier been convicted by the High Court of Ghana on corruption-related charges and sentenced in absentia.
Her return has reignited national debate over corruption, accountability, and the enforcement of court judgments, with political tensions rising over how the case has been handled.
The Minority in Parliament has raised questions over the timing of her transfer into prison custody, alleging that she was not immediately admitted into prison after arriving in Ghana. Government officials, however, have rejected claims of special treatment and maintained that she has remained under lawful custody.
The case, which has attracted significant public attention, stems from allegations involving financial crimes during her tenure at MASLOC. Her imprisonment marks one of Ghana’s high-profile corruption cases involving a former public official.
As she begins her sentence, the development has renewed calls for stronger action against corruption and greater transparency in the administration of justice.
