Social media has erupted after an alleged employee of the Dangote Group reportedly leaked a salary payslip online, triggering heated debate over workers’ welfare and shocking claims about compensation packages within the company.

The controversy exploded after the supposed payslip surfaced on X (formerly Twitter), where a user claimed it was anonymously sent by a staff member frustrated over working conditions and low allowances.

According to the viral document, the worker allegedly earns a total monthly package of about ₦146,351, including multiple allowances — but what truly stunned Nigerians was the reported hazard allowance of just ₦1,456.

The leaked breakdown allegedly included:

  • ₦30,758 basic salary
  • ₦11,466 housing allowance
  • ₦5,460 food allowance
  • ₦5,460 utility allowance
  • ₦1,456 hazard allowance
  • ₦9,646 transport allowance
  • ₦15,925 inflation allowance
  • ₦910 laundry allowance

Additional figures reportedly listed ₦45,000 as transport support and ₦20,270 as incentives.

But the outrage didn’t stop at the numbers.

The alleged employee also made explosive claims about harsh working conditions, alleging that contract staff receive no leave benefits and are required to visit dozens of outlets weekly while being monitored through a tracking application. The message claimed workers must complete up to 75 outlet visits every week.

As screenshots of the payslip spread online, Nigerians flooded social media with disbelief, anger, and sarcasm, with many questioning how a hazard allowance could allegedly be lower than the cost of a meal in some cities.

Others, however, urged caution, pointing out that the document has not been independently verified and Dangote Group has not officially commented on the viral claims.

The controversy has now intensified conversations around salaries, inflation, and employee welfare in Nigeria, especially at a time many workers say the rising cost of living is becoming unbearable.

For now, the alleged payslip remains one of the most talked-about leaks online — and the debate surrounding it shows no signs of slowing down.
