Ghana has announced that starting May 25, 2026, citizens of all African countries will be able to enter Ghana without paying visa fees. The move coincides with Africa Day celebrations and aims to strengthen continental ties.

Travelers will still need to submit an online e-visa application, but the usual visa fees will be waived. The government says the policy is designed to boost tourism, trade, and people-to-people connections across Africa.

President John Dramani Mahama highlighted that the initiative is part of Ghana’s broader Pan-African integration strategy. Ghana becomes the fifth African country to offer such open access to visitors from across the continent.

While visa fees are waived, travelers will still undergo the standard security and entry screenings. Officials say this new policy will make it easier for Africans to visit Ghana for business, leisure, or family purposes, reinforcing the country’s position as a more accessible destination in Africa.
