The Secretary-General of the Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL) has issued a stark warning that a return to power by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) could worsen the already difficult conditions faced by workers across Ghana.
In a strongly worded statement, the labour leader cautioned that the economic policies associated with the NPP’s time in government have not sufficiently protected the interests of the working class. According to him, bringing the party back into office risks deepening the financial strain on ordinary workers.
He noted that many Ghanaian workers are currently grappling with high living costs, stagnant wages, and an uncertain economic climate. A return of the NPP, he argued, could intensify these challenges, further eroding purchasing power and job security.
The GFL emphasized that workers remain vulnerable and are seeking policies that directly address their needs, including better wages, improved working conditions, and stronger social protections. The Secretary-General stressed that any future government must place the welfare of workers at the center of its agenda.
This warning comes at a time of increasing political activity, as parties position themselves ahead of upcoming elections. The statement adds to the growing national debate about economic management and the direction of the country.
The GFL’s message underscores a broader concern among labour groups: that Ghana’s economic recovery must not come at the expense of its workforce.
