A young resident of Benin City has spoken out, claiming that the surge of online fraudsters, commonly known as “Yahoo boys,” is making daily life nearly unbearable for ordinary citizens.

“They are making life so difficult for us,” the girl lamented, highlighting how inflation and cybercrime are combining to squeeze everyday Nigerians. According to her, prices of basic necessities are skyrocketing, and criminal activity is worsening economic hardships in the city.

Experts warn that the proliferation of internet fraud not only drains national resources but also fuels inflation, disrupts small businesses, and shakes public confidence in financial systems.

The girl’s heartfelt plea has gone viral on social media, with many users echoing her frustrations: “We are working hard just to survive, and these fraudsters are making it worse!” one commenter wrote.

Her story serves as a stark reminder of how cybercrime and economic pressure intersect, affecting even the youngest and most vulnerable members of society.
