An EGOT is someone who has won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award—essentially the grand slam of entertainment awards. Only a select group of performers and creators have achieved it. Here’s a list of some confirmed EGOT winners:

  1. Audrey Hepburn – Actress and humanitarian.
  2. Whoopi Goldberg – Comedian, actress, and TV host.
  3. John Legend – Singer-songwriter and musician.
  4. Rita Moreno – Actress, singer, dancer.
  5. Robert Lopez – Songwriter (notably co-creator of Frozen and The Book of Mormon).
  6. Mel Brooks – Legendary comedian, director, and writer.
  7. Helen Hayes – Iconic stage and screen actress.
  8. Andrew Lloyd Webber – Composer behind Phantom of the Opera and Cats.
  9. Jennifer Hudson – Singer and actress (Dreamgirls).

Some of them are “competitive EGOT” winners (all awards won in competition, not honorary).

Richard Rodgers, the music-writing half of the famed Rodgers and Hammerstein composing team, was the first person to achieve EGOT. He earned an Oscar for his song "It Might as Well Be Spring" from "State Fair," an Emmy for a TV special, Grammys for two cast albums and six Tonys -- including honors for his works "South Pacific," "The King and I" and "The Sound of Music."
