UG Hails Christina Koch, Only Woman on Artemis II Moon Mission

The University of Ghana has proudly celebrated Christina Hammock Koch, a former international student, for her role as the only female astronaut on NASA’s historic Artemis II mission to orbit the Moon.

UG described Koch’s achievement as a moment of immense pride, highlighting her journey from studying at the university decades ago to now making space history. The institution praised her dedication, resilience, and groundbreaking contributions to humanity’s return to deep-space exploration.

The Artemis II mission, which launched on April 1, 2026, involves Koch and three other astronauts orbiting the Moon on a 10-day journey.
