Following the unfortunate death of a 3-day-old baby at Tema General Hospital as a result of a power outage, actress and producer Yvonne Nelson organised the second ‘Dumsor’ protest.

Ramatu, the deceased baby’s mother, revealed that physicians blamed the baby’s death on a power outage on March 28, 2024.

This terrible occurrence infuriated Ghanaians, who vented their hatred upon the government and the Ghana Electricity Company.

Yvonne Nelson highlighted her concerns at the demonstration, emphasising the critical need to address the terrible effects of the power outage.

She emphasised her involvement in the matter, noting that she might easily find herself in a similar scenario.

The #DumsorMustStop vigil, held on June 8, 2024, drew a big audience to the University of Ghana.

Protesters demonstrated in black clothes and red caps, carrying lanterns and placards to demand action from the government on the country’s regular power outages.

The protest aimed to raise awareness of the vital impact of ‘dumsor’ on Ghanaians’ lives, emphasising the urgency of resolving the continuing power crisis.
