The untimely passing of Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has left the music industry and fans in shock. However, amidst the mourning, controversy continues to swirl around the circumstances leading up to his demise. Before his tragic passing, Mohbad took to social media on several occasions, alleging that he had been assaulted by Naira Marley and his crew members. These allegations have ignited a heated debate, especially after the emergence of details about a petition he filed against Sam Larry and others.

Mohbad’ s troubles began during a video shoot in June 2023, where he was working alongside fellow artist Zlatan Ibile. According to reports, a group of around fifteen individuals led by Sam Larry Elegushi stormed the set, brandishing dangerous weapons such as guns and cutlasses. They disrupted the video shoot, causing extensive damage to equipment valued at approximately Five Million Naira. In the midst of this chaos, the situation escalated to the point where Mohbad claimed to have been physically assaulted, sustaining injuries but narrowly escaping further harm.

As the details of Mohbad’ s petition against Sam Larry and others came to light following his tragic demise, social media was abuzz with reactions from fans and the public. Many expressed their shock and outrage at the allegations and questioned the Nigerian Police Force’ s handling of the case.
Prominent singer Samklef shared a screenshot of the petition on his Twitter page, where he openly criticized the Nigerian Police for what he perceived as a failed system. In his tweet, Samklef wrote; ” The police in Nigeria is a failed system! Late Mohbad, in June, filed a petition to the Nigerian Police Force seeking protection for his life and properties. Pls tag all the police handles the evil Nigeria must come to an end” .

The petition reads in part; ” On 25th June, 2023 while having a video shoot with another artist by name Zlatan Ibile, the above- mentioned persons numbering about fifteen led by Samlarry Elegushi invaded the premises with dangerous arms such as guns, cutlasses etc. where I was shooting video and scattered the whole process of the shooting, damaged the equipment I was using for the shooting valued about Five Million Naira and started threatening my life which in the process they became violent and assaulted me which I sustained injuries but narrowly escaped. “
