The Bank of Ghana has released the official exchange rates for major international currencies for Friday, May 23, 2025. These rates are what commercial banks use to buy and sell foreign currencies when dealing with the public.

According to the central bank, the US dollar is being bought at GH¢11.6242 and sold at GH¢11.6358. This means if someone wants to sell dollars to a bank, they will receive GH¢11.6242 for each dollar. On the other hand, if someone wants to buy dollars from a bank, they will pay GH¢11.6358 for each dollar.

For the British Pound, banks are buying at GH¢15.6090 and selling at GH¢15.6257. This makes the Pound the highest-valued currency among the three major currencies published by the Bank of Ghana today.

The Euro is also among the currencies listed. Banks are buying the Euro at GH¢13.1157 and selling it at GH¢13.1287.

These rates are based on the average interbank exchange rates used by commercial banks in Ghana as of the close of business on Thursday, May 22, 2025.

Foreign exchange rates in Ghana are important because they affect the prices of imported goods, travel costs, and international business. The rates also show how strong the Ghanaian cedi is compared to other world currencies.

The Bank of Ghana regularly updates these rates to help guide businesses, travelers, and the general public when dealing with foreign currencies. It is important for anyone involved in currency exchange or international trade to check these rates often, as they can change daily depending on market conditions.
