Takeoff was shot overnight in the Houston, Texas region and died as a result. He was 28, according to TMZ.

Local authorities were first made aware of the incident “shortly after 2:30 a.m.,” according to the story, which cited police sources and multiple alleged witnesses. The location, which is claimed to have been a bowling alley where a dice game was going on, was visited by both Quavo and Takeoff. Although additional information detailing what happened in the moments before the shooting has not been made public, it is believed that an altercation erupted at one point and was followed by gunfire.

A different story from local media source KPRC-TV, meanwhile, referred to two previously issued comments from the Houston Police Department (HPD), which stated early Tuesday morning they would not be disclosing “an name of the deceased victim” at this time. Additionally, HPD said that two more injured people had been transported to local hospitals. Later, according to the outlet, a Migos spokesman revealed that Takeoff had been fatally shot in Houston during what was reportedly a “private party.” The devastating news was also confirmed by a representative to The Associated Press.

HPD and a representative for Takeoff have both been contacted by Complex for comment. This story will be updated.
