The Golden Stool, a revered symbol of the Asante Kingdom known as ‘Sika Dwa Kofi’, made a rare appearance on Sunday, May 12, 2024, during a splendid durbar commemorating the silver jubilee of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

This event coincided with the Akwasidae festival, a significant occasion in the Asante calendar, leading to some routes to the Manhyia palace being closed.

Dignitaries were encouraged to wear gold and white attire or traditional clothing to honor the King’s achievements.

Among the attendees were thousands of well-wishers, government officials, including President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, as well as foreign dignitaries.

Legend holds that the Golden Stool was magically summoned from the heavens by the revered Asante priest, Okomfo Anokye, and is believed to embody the essence of the Asante kingdom.
