Nkosinathi Innocent Maphumulo, also known as Black Coffee, 47, a Grammy-winning South African DJ and record producer, is undergoing medical attention for wounds he received from air turbulence during a flight.
According to reports in the local media, the DJ was admitted to the hospital. He was en route to a club performance in the Argentinian resort city of Mar Del Plata when the incident happened.
Black Coffee’s management team called the incident “severe,” adding that it had “left him with some injuries.”.
The DJ “suffered severe blows to his body,” according to a statement from Mute, the club where he was scheduled to perform, which was cited by the local media.
Black Coffee’s plane, which was traveling on Sunday from the Brazilian city of Florianopolis, was forced to make an emergency landing at an airport in Uruguay’s capital, Montevideo.
On Wednesday, his team stated on X that “Black Coffee is optimistic and recovering well, despite the challenges presented.”
