Pastor David Odeniyi has petitioned the Mapo Grade ‘A’ Customary Court in Ibadan for the dissolution of his marriage to Bolanle, citing domestic violence and consistent public humiliation as reasons.

Odeniyi, a resident of Basorun, Ibadan, recounted an incident where his estranged wife publicly stripped him naked during a church service, causing embarrassment in front of the congregation.

He also accused Bolanle of abandonment, stating that she traveled to Libya without his consent, leaving their child behind for two years.

Despite previously reconciling after a divorce suit filed at a Grade ‘C’ Customary Court in Gate area, Ibadan, Odeniyi asserted that Bolanle’s behavior had not changed.

However, Bolanle failed to appear in court to defend herself against her husband’s allegations. Pastor Odeniyi expressed regret over the treatment he endured, including being physically assaulted, denied visitors, and poisoned. The court, led by President Mrs. S.M. Akintayo, acknowledged the existence of a valid customary marriage but recognized Odeniyi’s desire to end the union.

Consequently, the court issued an order restraining Bolanle from threatening, harassing, or interfering in her estranged husband’s private life.
