Singer Sista Afia has expressed her dissatisfaction with the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) for continuously ignoring her despite her hard work.

Afia, who has felt mistreated over the years, resorted to Facebook to ask whether she had offended any of the board members who hold the decision-making authority.

To buttress her stance, Afia said her 2021 hit song Asuoden was ignored despite its popularity at the time in the music industry.

She also found it incomprehensible that while some artistes out of arrogance or huge status fail to submit their works but are still nominated those who file for the scheme receive no nominations at all.

She unintentionally suggested in her communication that there could be ‘mafias’ within the board members that favour certain musicians over others, guaranteeing their inclusion in the scheme regardless of the calibre of their music.

She wrote: “Have I offended someone at the high table Ghana Music Awards? The fact that Asuoden was a big song in 2021 had Zero nominations which I still don’t get. I learned people don’t even file for nominations but get nominations.

The downplay on my efforts ever since I started doing music in Ghana hasn’t been fair to my craft and yes, it hurts because I work so hard. I’ve been quiet for so long because I have respect for the scheme and I don’t want to step on anyone’s toes!”
