Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa issued a stern warning that the heavy rains, fueled by El Niño, may persist through May, urging families to evacuate flood-prone areas to ensure their safety.

The disaster has already affected approximately 200,000 people and over 51,000 households. The crisis extends beyond Tanzania’s borders, with heavy rains wreaking havoc in neighboring Kenya and Burundi, exacerbating the humanitarian situation in the region.
