Renowed celebrity’s waakye seller Auntie Muni passes away at age 72

At 72, a well-known celebrity Waakye vendor, Auntie Imoro Muniratu, well-known and frequently mentioned by aspiring musicians, passed away.

On Wednesday, January 3, the 72-year-old, who was well-known for her lengthy lines at her waakye joint, reportedly passed away at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) in Accra following a brief illness.

The son of Auntie Muni, Alhassan Abdul Arafat, revealed this in an interview. According to him, his mother was admitted to the SSNIT Hospital after becoming ill.

“We noticed after two days that she was still not feeling well, so we rushed her to the University of Ghana Medical Centre for treatment, and she passed away this morning at three in the morning,” Arafat stated.
