According to a spokeswoman for the Nigerian police, Ifeanyi Adeleke, the three-year-old son of Davido, drowned on Monday, October 31.

The incident is said to have occurred in the swimming pool at the residence of the Afrobeats star and his fiancée, chef and influencer Chioma Rowland, who has been detained by the local police for questioning. Eight domestic workers have been detained.

The couple only recently made their engagement to be married the following year public on a trip to London. The event is said to have occurred while Davido, real name David Adedeji, and his partner were apparently out from home.

Police were contacted by the couple’s housekeeper around 10 o’clock local time, according to police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin (9pm GMT).
