In a bold appeal that has stirred both government officials and the public, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has urged authorities to fast-track the long-delayed Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) hospital project, warning that the delay is holding back critical healthcare access for the region.
Addressing stakeholders, the Ashanti King described the stalled project as a “blot on development” and emphasized the urgent need to bring it to completion. “Our people cannot continue to wait for essential healthcare services while projects linger unfinished,” he declared.
The KNUST hospital, envisioned as a state-of-the-art medical facility and training center, has faced repeated delays due to funding and logistical challenges. Otumfuo stressed that completing the hospital is not just about infrastructure—it is about saving lives and advancing medical education in Ashanti and beyond.
Local leaders and residents have welcomed the call, echoing concerns that prolonged inaction undermines public confidence in development initiatives. Government officials have pledged to review the project’s status and explore ways to accelerate its completion.
With Otumfuo’s intervention, the spotlight is now firmly on authorities: will they heed the call, or will the KNUST hospital remain another symbol of stalled development? The pressure is mounting, and expectations are high for swift action.
