In a dramatic video sending shockwaves across social media, a Nigerian businesswoman has cried out to the nation, claiming she was personally targeted and arrested on orders of the Minister of Works, David Umahi!
Identified as Tracynither Nicolas Ohiri, the woman tearfully alleges that security operatives swooped in and detained her — even announcing she was being whisked away to Abuja — all allegedly because of a long‑standing dispute with the powerful federal minister.
According to her emotional plea in the video, she was arrested over claims that the minister owed her millions of naira for campaign supplies dating back more than a decade — a debt she insists Umahi still hasn’t paid. She urged Nigerians to hold both the minister and the police accountable if anything happened to her while in custody.
Her claims have exploded online, with netizens and rights activists accusing the government of weaponising law enforcement to suppress a civilian dispute. Human rights campaigner Omoyele Sowore even confronted Umahi at the Police Command in Abuja, accusing him of turning what should be a civil matter into a criminal persecution.
The case has since drawn further controversy — reports say she was arraigned and initially denied bail, though a court later granted her bail in the sum of ₦1 million following charges of defamation.
Officials in Umahi’s camp have denied that he orchestrated her arrest, claiming the police acted on a petition and followed due process — but the fiery online debate shows this story is far from over.
