Tragic reports are surfacing indicating that Kwabena Gideon, a mobile money (MoMo) vendor in Awutu Bereku, Central Region, committed suicide as a result of embezzling his bosses’ money.

He allegedly drank poison and passed away after two hours. Two women and a one-year-old child are left behind by him.

Within the last few weeks, Kwabena Gideon has been alleged to have stolen GHC 16,000 from his boss.

It is unclear how the money was used; some sources say he squandered it somehow, maybe on sports betting or other vices, while Starrfmonline claims he experienced “losses” from the MoMo business.

In any case, his boss allegedly filed a formal complaint against Kwabena Gideon for stealing his GHC16,000 at the Awutu Bereku Police Station.

The employee was also found to have erased all of his social media posts, switched off his cell phone, and switched to a different phone that was used for MOMO transactions, according to the complaint.
