John Mahama Reveals the Amount He Gave to the Woman Who Danced During His Thank You Tour

President John Dramani Mahama has reacted to a viral video showing him giving money to a woman during his Thank You Tour in the Greater Accra Region on Friday, 16th May, 2025.

In the video, a woman danced joyfully in front of Mahama during a public event. After her performance, the president was seen giving her cash. The video quickly went viral and sparked conversations on social media, especially after the recent issue involving Sammy Gyamfi’s cash gift to Evangelist Mama Pat, also known as Agradaa.

To clear the air, John Mahama explained that he only gave the woman 500 Ghana cedis and not 500 US dollars, as some people were claiming online. He added that he expected people to talk about the incident, especially because of the current heat around the Sammy Gyamfi case.

On this new issue, many are defending Mahama, saying that giving a small amount of money to an excited supporter is a common gesture by public figures and not the same as what happened in the Sammy Gyamfi case.

The video has now added to the ongoing discussions in Ghana about public officials giving money in public and the way such acts are viewed by the public.
