Amoah clinched his second medal at the 2023 African Games with a time of 20.70, following his earlier silver in the 4×100 Men’s relay final for Ghana at the Legon Stadium.

Securing gold in the men’s 200m final marked a historic moment for Joe Paul, becoming the first Ghanaian to achieve this feat since Ohene Karikari in 1973.

Despite this success, Amoah remains focused on reaching his peak performance and is confident that he is on the right track following his victory.

Expressing his determination, he stated, “I think I’m getting there, I think I’m getting there yeah, I’m trying to get to my 2019 form and even better.”

Additionally, Ibrahim Fuseini of Ghana finished in fourth place in the men’s 200m final with a time of 20.85s, showcasing his talent in his debut competition for his country.

Amoah commended Fuseini’s performance and believes that his hard work will lead to success in future competitions.

He praised the youngster’s humility and expressed optimism about his potential, stating, “The sky is the limit for him yeah.”

Looking ahead, Fuseini remains hopeful of qualifying for the Olympics later this year in France and views the experience gained at the 2023 African Games as valuable preparation for that opportunity.
