I have never been a fan of the Ghana Music Awards Scheme – Sister Afia

Francisca Gawugah, who goes by the stage name Sista Afia, is a well-known singer and songwriter in Ghana. She recently expressed her disappointment at not receiving any nominations at the 25th Ghana Music Awards, now sponsored by Telecel.

Despite her hit song “Asuoden”, she was not recognized in any category. Sista Afia was also featured as a performer at the finals of a women’s football competition at the All-African Games, where the Black Princesses won the Gold medal against Nigeria.

After the nominees were announced at a vibrant ceremony featuring performances by Olive TheBoy and Highlife legend Amandzeba Nat Brew, Sista Afia took to Facebook to share her thoughts.

She humorously stated, “lol I have never been a favorite of the VGMA/TGMA scheme!”

It is clear that Sista Afia feels overlooked by the Ghana Music Awards scheme, despite her talent and contributions to the music industry.

This lack of recognition has not deterred her from continuing to create music and entertain audiences. Sista Afia remains a resilient and determined artist, focused on her craft and pursuing her passion for music.
