HEART BREAKING: A 15-year-old Ghanaian kidney patient who requested financial assistance to afford dialysis has died

A 15-year-old Ghanaian kidney patient, Priscilla Asante who had begged for support to be able to afford her expensive dialysis treatment, has died.

Joy News, who carried the story of her plight, reports that Asante died in the early hours of Sunday,

According to the mother of the deceased, her daughter, who was receiving treatment at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, had bloated prior to her passing.

When she noticed that and mentioned it to her doctor, she was told it was an indication both kidneys of her daughter had failed.

She sadly passed on not long after that.

Prior to her passing, Joy News had reported about the plight of Priscilla who is a JHS student and comes from a very poor family.

She had appealed for funds to meet the conditions of her costly dialysis treatment – treatment which had recently been increased to over Ghc700 a week.

According to Priscilla’s mother, they even owe the hospital over Ghc 4,000 and have to make payment before her daughter’s body would be released to her.

The plight of patients of kidney failure has surged to the forefront recently with the news of the staggering near 100% increase in the cost of the treatment.

As Ghlagatin.net recently reported – a young Ghanaian lady also suffering from kidney failure recently cried that she wished to die to relieve the suffering and financial burden she’s placing on her family.
