Veteran politician and former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Freddie Blay, was today transferred from police remand to a hospital after suffering a dangerous spike in blood pressure while in custody.
Blay’s health reportedly deteriorated while he was being held following his remand by the Akropong Circuit Court in connection with a land dispute case. Authorities moved him immediately to a medical facility for urgent treatment.
The medical emergency comes amid legal proceedings related to allegations surrounding a land parcel in Kitase and claims of unlawful demolition. Blay’s aides say the stress of his arrest and detention triggered the sudden health crisis, but they maintain his innocence.
It is not yet clear whether his legal team will seek medical bail ahead of the next court date, as the case continues to unfold.
