Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo could not hold back his tears when he visited the family of the late highlife legend, Daddy Lumba.
The emotional visit happened on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Daddy Lumba’s house in East Legon, Accra.
Akufo Addo arrived at the residence around 10:00 AM. He was welcomed by family members, friends, and loved ones of the late musician. The former president looked very sad and was full of emotion. As he greeted the family and offered his condolences, he was seen wiping away tears.
According to reports, Akufo Addo had a strong relationship with Daddy Lumba. He said in his tribute that Lumba was not only a music legend but also a personal friend. He explained that Lumba’s music played a big role in his political journey, especially during his campaign rallies. Some of Daddy Lumba’s songs were even used in promoting Akufo Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
During the visit, Akufo Addo signed the book of condolence and shared a few words about how much Lumba meant to him and to the whole country. He said that Ghana has lost a great man whose music will continue to live on.
The death of Daddy Lumba shocked many Ghanaians. He passed away on July 26, 2025, after a short illness. He was known for his powerful voice, hit songs, and long career in the music industry. Many fans, celebrities, and political leaders have been visiting the family to express their sorrow.
