Famous media personality and TV show host Blessed Godsbrain Smart, popularly known as Captain Smart, sharply criticised Ghanaian politicians for putting their political parties ahead of the country’s progress during a recent appearance on TV3’s Ladies Circle programme.
Captain Smart highlighted the critical importance of leadership, lamenting the prevalent tendency in Africa for people to vote along party lines rather than for the betterment of the country.
He asserted that Ghana’s leaders have betrayed the public’s trust by focusing excessively on political affiliations instead of dedicating themselves to the nation’s progress.
Emphasising that Ghana’s economic situation hinges on a shift in politicians’ mindset, Captain Smart argued that even if led by Christ Jesus himself, the country’s economy would not improve without a refocus on national interests over partisan agendas.
“Our economy can never get better. Bring Christ Jesus himself, let him resurrect tomorrow and come and leave this country, the economy will not get better anywhere. Until the politician begins to think that we are building a nation and not a political party,” he declared.
As the host of Onua TV’s morning show, Captain Smart called for increased accountability for politicians, condemning them for deceiving the public and misusing the nation’s resources.
He urged citizens to vote for the country rather than political parties, stressing the importance of scrutinising leaders to ensure they fulfil their promises.
