A woman has sparked online reactions after sharing her surprise experience during a visit to Living Faith Church Worldwide, widely known as Winners Chapel, where she claims she was asked to buy an offering envelope before giving her offering.
According to the lady, she had attended the church service with the intention of giving an offering like many other worshippers. However, she said she was surprised when she approached for an envelope and was told she needed to pay for it before using it.
The unexpected request reportedly left her confused, as she claimed she had never encountered such a situation in other churches she had attended.
“I came to give offering, and they asked me to buy the envelope first,” she said while recounting the experience online, expressing disbelief over the situation.
Her story quickly gained traction on social media, with many people sharing mixed reactions.
Some users said they found the practice unusual and questioned why worshippers should pay for an envelope used to give offerings. Others, however, defended the church, explaining that some congregations sell special envelopes used for seed offerings, thanksgiving, or special donations, often to cover printing or administrative costs.
Supporters of the church also argued that members are not always required to use envelopes and can still give offerings without purchasing one.
As the debate continues online, the incident has sparked broader conversations about church practices, transparency in donations, and the expectations of worshippers when giving offerings.
