Charles Nii Teiko Tagoe, an aide to former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo‑Addo, has responded strongly to a circulating AI‑generated parody video that falsely depicts the former president in an embarrassing light.

In a statement released on Thursday, Tagoe condemned the deepfake clip, saying it misrepresents the former head of state by showing him demanding money in comical exchanges with other political figures. He described the portrayal as false, disrespectful, and inconsistent with Akufo‑Addo’s character and public record.

While acknowledging that satire and parody can have a place in public discourse, Tagoe warned that such AI‑generated content crosses a line when it misleads audiences and undermines the dignity of national leaders. He urged content creators to exercise responsible freedom of expression and avoid producing material that distorts the reputation of public figures.

The incident highlights growing concerns about the spread of AI‑generated media online and the potential for deepfakes to spread misinformation and erode trust in digital content — a challenge increasingly seen across social platforms worldwide.
