Three of the key suspects in the brutal killing of a Kusasi chief in Asawase have been arrested after evading authorities for months, police confirmed.
The suspects — Jamil Usman (aka Babamu/Guru), Suleman Yasir Arafat (aka Obasanjo), and Ashiadu Sumbieda (aka Eyeshadow) — were captured following a sustained intelligence-led operation by the Ashanti South Regional Police Command.
During the operation, police seized weapons including two AK‑47 assault rifles, a pump-action gun, two pistols, and several rounds of ammunition, highlighting the violent nature of the crime.
The suspects will be handed over to the Ashanti Regional Police Command, where investigations into the gruesome killing — which shocked communities in 2025 — will continue.
Authorities say one other main suspect, Illiasu (aka Abodam), remains at large, and efforts are ongoing to arrest him along with any other accomplices.
This breakthrough comes months after the late Kusasi Chief, Naa Abdul‑Malik Azenbe, was shot and killed at his Asawase residence in a brazen attack that left the local community in shock.
