The old price for applying for a passport used to be Ghc100 and Ghc150 depending on the number of pages you are requesting in the passport book and also whether you are settling for an expedited one or a standard one.

If you are looking at applying for a Ghanaian passport or even renewing your old one, you should head to the official Passport application portion using this link https://passport.mfa.gov.gh/ to apply for one and the process is entirely online as you can make the payment for the application either via Mobile money or using your bank debit or credit card for payment.

The new price increase is more than 300% increase in what the office used to charge but the Ministry has justified the need for the price change but the concern of majority of Ghanaians is how swift the process would be now that they are taking more money.

In the past, one would have to spend long hours at the passport office to have their biometrics and photos captured and wait for months without getting their passports even for those who pay for an expedited process.
