The medical team for Afua’s well-celebrated Singathon has disclosed something shocking about Afua’s mental health and well-being.
Her attempt surpassed India’s Sunil Waghmare’s 2012 record for the longest sing-a-thon, though the judges of Guinness World Records have not yet confirmed this. Afua started the sing-a-thon on December 24 at exactly midnight and ended on the morning of Friday, December 29, 2023.
The events were halted on Friday morning after she broke the current singing record after 126 hours and 56 minutes. Her physician on her medical team, though, revealed something strange that caused them to stop her from singing. according to Dr. Grace Buckman’s report,
There are only so many restrictions that apply to you personally. She has done so well, and we are extremely proud of her. We have gotten to the point where, as a medical team, her health is very important. At the moment, we want her to rest so she will bounce back to us,” she said.
She went on to say that the medical staff was concerned about her overall health because of how her lack of sleep over the past few days had affected her body system.
Additionally, they revealed that Afua began exhibiting signs of mental stress, such as needless gestures and remarks, which were discussed with her before the competition and were predicted by medicine.
Therefore, despite her preference to terminate it by midday on Friday, the medical team insisted on doing so to prevent her from developing any potentially fatal health conditions.
